The future is now – Telenor Global VoLTE

One thing is clear and we all know it, the international voice market is in decline, while over-the-top (OTT) volumes are surging. Consumers have changed their behavior, and increasingly they are taking advantage of all the new ways to interact with their business contacts, colleagues, friends and family.

A report released from Gartner states, “After decades of stagnation, the voice landscape is undergoing a seismic shift. Migration is in full swing to richer IP-based communication, and Web real-time communication is expected to significantly disrupt the value chain.”  It is important to “read the writing on the wall”, so to speak, and at Telenor Global Services we are developing new Voice services that will meet the changing demands of the Consumer. We believe VoLTE is that “new kid on the Voice block”.

There are currently 16 Mobile Operators around the world that have rolled out VoLTE, while there are many more planning to do so in the near future. The Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) informs that there are currently 90 operators investing in VoLTE in 2015. In order to be able to offer our customers VoLTE internationally, both between Consumers calling internationally, as well as while they are travelling, Telenor Global Services will launch new Interworking and Roaming services in 2015.

Our Telenor Global IPX will be the enabler of these new services, which will mean the Consumer can continue to use their phone and mobile services in the same way they are used to when they are at home as when they are travelling. This is often referred to as “Roam like home”. Telenor Global Services will offer both VoLTE Interworking and VoLTE Roaming which will expand VoLTE interoperability worldwide.

Hope to see you at ITW 2015!
